Jaanam was a romantic movie released in 1993 under the banner of Vishesh Films. The movie was produced by Mukesh Bhatt and the director of the movie was Vikram Bhatt. The main roles in the movie were played by Rahul Roy, Pooja Bhatt and Deepak Tijori. Other good roles were played by Vikram Gohkhale, Paresh Rawal and Avtar Gill. The music of the movie was given by Anu Malik while the singers were Amit Kumar, Anu Malik, Vipin Desai and Anuradha Paudwal.

In the movie Dhanraj ( Vikram Gohkhale ) was a very powerful and wealthy builder. To expand his construction business more, he wanted the nearby village land which was owned by fishermen. Their leader Shankar Rao ( Paresh Rawal ) was not ready to give the land to Dhanraj at any cost. Thus, differences and anger cropped up among the two. Shankar’s son Amar ( Rahul Roy ) and  Dhanraj’s daughter Anjali ( Pooja Bhatt) fell in love with each other and could do anything for their love.

Dhanraj was against the marriage and wanted Anjali to marry his business mate’s son. On the other hand Anajli only wanted Amar to be her husband. Enraged and furious Dhanraj instruct his men to set fire to the village. Many people get killed including Dhanraj’s son Rajan who was among the fire setters and Shankar’s son Arun. Dhanraj goes mad and swears by his son’s death that he will kill Amar. The movie presents some realistic action. The director has done some real good work. The movie presents some great romantic tracks.
