The action thriller Jalwa was released in the year of 1987. The movie was directed by Pankaj Parashar and produced by Gul Anand. The top roles in the movie were enacted by Naseruddin Shah, Rohini Hattangadi, Archana Puran Singh and Saeed Jaffrey while the roles of Johny Lever, Pankaj Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, A K Hangal, Cyrus Broacha and Satish Kaushik were equally important. The music of the film was directed by Anand Chitragupt and Remo Fernandes.

The movie Jalwa was an action cum thriller film that revolved mostly around a man named Kapil ( Naseeruddin Shah ) whose younger brother, Buntu dies at a younger age due to the drug overdse. This was not liked by Kapil and he wanted to put the brakes on drug dealings thus he joins the police force and becomes a CID Inspector soon. He lived in Bombay with his mother ( Kamini Kaushal ). The movie takes a turn when his friend from Goa, Albert Pinto ( Pankaj Kapoor ) gets killed in front of him.

Kapil wanted to take revenge from the killers of Albert Pinto but he was not permitted to do so and what was not liked by him was that the case was given to some other police officer. Kapil becomes frustrated and thus decides to travel to Goa. There he had no police powers and was like a common man. He starts exploring the case with his friend Jojo ( Archana Puran Singh ) but was arrested due to a brawl with someone.
