Dev Anand and Hema Malini starrer romantic movie Janeman was released on July 30, 1976. The movie was written and directed by Chetan Anand. The other starcast of the movie includes Durga Khote, Prem Nath, Iftekhar, Ajit, Jagdish Raj, Jankidas and Paintal in important roles. The melodious music of the movie was directed by the veteran music director duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal while the songs were beautifully crooned by Mohammed Rafi, Mukesh, Lata Mangeshkar, Kishore Kumar, Manna dey, Hemlata etc.

Ronnie ( Dev Anand ) belongs to a poor family and lives alongwith his mother. Ronnie works a a taxi driver in Bombay. On day he meets with a beautiful girl named Santho ( Hema Malini ), who is in distress. Santho has lost the adddress of the prson, Gulbahar Singh ( Ajit ), whom she is looking for. Ronnie comes to her rescue and brings her his own home. After spending some time with each other, Ronnie and Santho falls in love with each other. They decides to get married soon.

Santho also works somewhere which Ronnie has no idea about. Ronnie get shoocked to see Santho dancing ina a brothel. Ronnie learns that Santho is actually Ram Kali, a famous dancer of a brothel. Ronnie decides to confront Santho right there but somehow controls himself. He then decides to find out the reason on his own that why Santho is living this dual life?
