Jeeva was an action thriller released on December 5, 1986 under the banner of Roopam Arts. The movie was directed by Raj N Sippy while it was produced by Romu Sippy. The important roles in the movie were enacted by Sanjay Dutt, Sachin, Mandakini and Anupam Kher while the roles of Gulshan Grover, Amjad Khan, Vidya Sinha, Shakti Kapoor, Pran and Shreeram Lagoo were also significant. The music of the film was directed by R D Burman while the songs were sung by Amit Kumar and Asha Bhosle.

Jeeva was an action cum thriller film that had good action sequences and thriller scenes. The story of the movie revolved mostly around a dacoit named Jeevan Thakur ( Sanjay Dutt ). Jeevan was not a dacoit once but when he was abducted at a very young age, he soon transformed into one when he grew up and that too a great one who has managed to terrorize all the communities nearby him. He is now a renowned dacoit known as Jeeva.

To catch all the dacoits and to reduce the terror in the countryside, a Police Inspector named Dushant Singh ( Anupam Kher ) was assigned to catch them. He accepted the job and started hunting them one by one. Jeeva was troubled by a money lender Lala ( Pran ) and thus goes to take his revenge from him. The sardar of the dacoits is killed, and the dacoits elect Lakhan ( Shakti Kapoor ) to be their new leader. Now Jeeva and Gopal ( Sachin ) were required to dodge Lakhan and his gang.
