Bollywood family drama, Ji Chahta Hai, directed by Bibhuti Mitra was released in the year 1964. The movie starred Joy Mukherjee and Rajshree in lead roles while Poornima, Jeevan, Motilal, Pratima Devi, Achala Sachdev, Shyama and Rajendra Nah also played important characters in the film. The hit evergreen melodious music of the movie was directed by the well known veteran music director duo Kalyanji Anand ji while the songs were crooned by Mukesh, Lata Mangeshkar etc.

Rajesh ( Joy Mukherjee ) got seperated from his parents because of floods in his childhood. Years later, he is now a grown up guy. He arrives in Calcutta and seeks a place to live. He learns that an old couple wants to give a room on rent on low rates. But their condition is that the room will be given to a couple only. Rajesh cme across a beautiful girl named Rajshree ( Rajshree ), who also desperately need a room. Rajesh and Rajshree decides to pretend as husband-wife in front of the old couple in order to get the room.

Little does rajesh knows is that the old couple are his own parents. But problems arises when Rajshree is framed in a murder case by a criminal named Jeevan ( Jeevan ). Jeevan starts blackmailing her and ask her to provide him money from the old couple. What to happen next?
