Bollywood movie, Jis Desh Mein Ganga Rehta Hai, directed by Mahesh Manjrekar was released on October 13, 2000. The movie starred Govinda and Sonali Bendre in lead roles while Shakti Kapoor, Reema Laagoo, Rinkie Khanna and Milind Gunaji also played important chracters in the film. The melodious music of the film was given by Anand Raj Anand and the songs were sung by Sonu Nigam, Sunidhi Chauhan, Abhijeet etc. The movie did average business at the box office and the music of the film was alos appreciated by the people.

The movie starts with a young guy named Gangaram aka Ganga ( Govinda ) who lives with his parents in the village. He lives a tension free life and is a very simple innocent person at his heart. He is in love with a beautiful girl named Sanwali ( Sonali Bendre ). But whenever he talk with his parents regarding his marraige with Sanwali they simply refuse ti it without giving any reason for it. He later come to know that he is actually the son of wealthy parents who left him in this village for his cure from a seriuos disease.

His wealthy parents come to the cillage and ask him visit the city and infact to settle there. Though Ganga agrees to this but at heart he weeps while leaving the village. In city, he finds that he has an elder brother, his wife and a younger brother too. But the villager Ganga finds it difficult to settle in city. What will he do now?
