Bollywood movie, Jugnu, directed by Pramod Chakravorty was released in the year 1973. The movie starred Dharmendra and Hema Malini in the lead roles while Pran, Prem Chopra and Mehmood alos played important roles in the film. The music of the film was given by S.D.Burman and the songs were sung by Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar etc. The movie did well at the box office and also recieved fine response from Critics.

The movie starts with Shyam ( Pran ), son of Rai Bahadur Jwala Prasad, blows up a bridge and shows his anger for Britishers. Rai Bahadur disowns him from his life and property. When Police arrives to arrest Shyam, he manage to escape from there with the help of his pregnant wife Parvati. Years later, Shyam’s son , Ashok ( Dharmendra ), become a thief and names himself Jugnu. His mother is dead. Rai Bahadur is living with a his fake grandson named Ramesh ( Prem Chopra ), who was presented by Munimji as his grandson years ago.

Ashok does a ‘loot’ and escapes with the help of his friend Mahesh ( Mehmood ). On his way to home, he meets with a beautiful girl named Seema ( Hema malini ). Ashok runs an orphanage in the day time with the use of his stolen money. Meanwhile Ashok and Seema falls in love with each other musch to the discomfort of Ramesh who is expecting to get married with Seema. Ashok also meets with his father, Shyam, who is now known as Professor Chaudhary. But suddenly things starts difficult for him?
