The romantic movie Jumbish was released on October 24, 1986. The movie was directed as well as produced by Salahuddin Parvez. The significant roles in the movie were played by Padmini Kolhapure, Raza Murad, Shafi Inamdaar and Javed Khan while Jagdeep, Akbar Khan, Yashwant Dutt, Bharat Bhushan, Raju Shreshta, Seema Deo and Yunus Parvez were also there in the film. The music of the film was directed by Jaidev while the songs were sung by Bhupinder, Shobha Joshi, Anand, Lata Mangeshkar, Usha Mangeshkar and Pinaz Masani.

The movie Jumbish was a hit romantic movie that mostly revolved around a man named Manas ( Akbar Khan ) who lived a comfortable and an upper middle class life with his mother in their big house. Manas was now of marriageable age and thus his mother wanted him to marry to a pretty girl named Vidya ( Padmini Kolhapure ). But there was something else that Manas had in his mind. He was not interested in marriage.

Also Manas does not care for romance, sex, and love, as he considers them a waste of time and energy. What he had in mind was to invent a computer that will do all those work leaving humans to do the work rather than have sex and give birth to babies. On coming to know this, his mother was shocked and wanted him to immediately stop the work but he refused to give up the work. This has a bad effect on her and she suffers a heart attack and was bed ridden for rest of her life.
