The family drama Kaanch Ki Deewar was released on January 31, 1986. The movie was directed by M N Yasin and produced by Kamal Choudhary. The top roles in the film were played by Sanjeev Kumar, Rajan Sippy, Smita Patil and Amrish Puri while the supporting roles were played by Om Prakash, Shakti Kapoor, Jagdeep and Poornima. The music of the film was directed by Shankar Jaikishan while the songs were sung by Alka Yagnik, Anuradha Paudwal, Chandrani Mukherjee, Kishore Kumar, Dilraj Kaur, Suresh Wadkar and Mohammad Aziz.

The movie Kaanch Ki Deewar was a family drama that revolved mostly around a man named Bhoop Singh ( Amrish Puri ) who is an honest person working under Laxmi Singh ( Nilu Phule ). He has a good wife named Devi ( Lalita Kumari ) and a sister named Sundari. Bhoop worked extremely hard day and night and saved all the money with Laxmi Singh. When Bhoop was required to give the money as a dowry for Sundari’s marriage, he goes to take the money but he was just humiliated by Laxmi Singh.

As a result, Bhoop was not given his own money and thus Sundari’s marriage got cancelled. This created a pressure on her which made her to kill herself. Bhoop now wanted to take revenge of her death and thus kills Laxmi and subsequently takes the line of crime as his career. Bhoop becomes a father of a daughter, Nisha ( Smita Patil ), and ends up in jail after double-crossing his partner-in-crime, Vikram Singh ( Shakti Kapoor ).
