Kaaran was a family drama released in the year of 1981. The movie was directed by B R Ishara and produced by Gopi Rohra. The main roles in the movie were played by Raj Kiran and Shobha Anand  while the presence of Ramesh Deo and Aruna Irani supported the film. The music of the film was directed by Usha Khanna while the songs were sung by Vijay Yesudas.

Kaaran was a family flick that had nothing much to offer to the audience. The movie was directed by the famous director B R Ishara who has directed movies like Gunah Aur Kanoon released in 1970, Nayee Duniya Naye Log released in 1973 and Aurat Ka Inteqam released in 1984 while his first film as a director was Insaaf Ka Mandir released in 1970. The movie was the first film of the producer Gopi Rohra who debuted with this film as a producer.

The male lead in the film was played by the famous actor Raj Kiran who had done many movies earlier like Nazrana Pyar Ka, Teri Mang Sitaron Se Bhar Doon, Ek Hi Maqsad and Dulhan Banoo Mein Teri while his first movie was Basera released in 1950 and featuring Hiralal Ramola and Veena Kumari in the lead. The female lead in the movie was played by Shobha Anand who has acted in movies Nafrat released in 1987 and Insaaf Ka Khoon released in 1991 while this movie was her first film.
