The romantic movie Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham was released on December 14, 2001 under the banner of Dharma Productions. The movie was directed by Karan Johar and produced by Yash Johar. The key roles in the movie were enacted by Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan, Jaya Bachchan and Kajol while the roles of Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor were also significant. Music of the film was directed by Aadesh Shrivastav and the songs were sung by Udit Narayan, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Alka Yagnik, Lata Mangeshkar and Amit Kumar.

Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham was a romantic family drama directed by Karan Johar who has also directed several romantic movies under the famous Yash Raj banner. It is a family movie that revolves around Yashovardhan Raichand ( Amitabh Bachchan ), his wife Nandini ( Jaya Bachchan ) and their two sons Rahul ( Shah Rukh Khan ) and Rohan ( Hrithik Roshan ). Both the parents showered upon their sons love and blessings. Nandini had different dreams and ambitions for her sons.

Out of the two sons, Rahul shared a special bonding with the parents and the special bonding was because that he was not their own child, he was adopted. When he found the truth, he became more devoted towards his parents especially his father. But the day Rahul fell in love with Anjali ( Kajol ), the special relationship broke. Anjali was a bubbly girl from Delhi’s Chandni Chowk who lives with her lovely sister Pooja ( Kareena Kapoor ) and ailing father Bauji ( Alok Nath ). Now it was Rohan who decided to bring his brother back.
