Bollywood yesteryear family drama, Kal Aaj Aur Kal, directed by Randhir Kapoor and written by Virendra Sinha was released in the year 1971. The movie starred Randhir Kapoor, Babita and Raj Kapoor in lead roles while Prithviraj Kapoor, Roopesh Kumar, Achala Sachdev, Abhi Bhattacharya, Vishwa Mehra, David Abraham, Iftekhar and Sarika also played significant characters in the film. The melodious music of the film was directed by the veteran hit music director jodi, Shankar-Jaikishen while the songs were rendered by Kishore Kumar, Mukesh, Manna Dey, Asha Bhonsle etc. The movie was an instant hit of that year.

The movie starts with Ram Kapoor ( Raj Kapoor ), who is widower and living a wealthy lifestyle alongwith his son, Rajesh Kapoor ( Randhir Kapoor ) in Bombay. Ram Kapoor’s dad, Diwan Bahadur Kapoor ( Prithviraj Kapoor ), is living in a village. Ram feels himself lonely and to overcome this loneliness he frequently throws parties in his home. He invites his father to Bombay so that they all could live together. Diwan Bahadur agrees to his request and visits Bombay to live alongwith his son and grandson. But the generation gap creates differences between Diwan Bahadur ad his grandson, Rajesh. They usually oppose each others thinking.

Diwan has arranged Rajesh’s marraige with his friend, Thakur Janak Singh’s daughter. But Rajesh wants to get married with his girfriend, Monica aka Mona ( Babita ). These all problems between Rajesh and Diwan Bahadur makes Ram tensed. After seeing Ram in tension, Diwan and Rajesh apologize to him and decides to live together without fighting with each other. But is this that easy for the two to agree on each other’s thinking? What about Ram Kapoor?
