Bollywood family drama, Karamdaata, directed by Shashilal K. nair and written by Anwar Khan was released on May 20, 1986. The movie was produced by Kadar Kahmiri. The movie starred Mithun Chakraborthy and Amrita Singh in lead roles while Shammi Kapoor, Shakti Kapoor, Jagdeep, Om Prakash, Raj Kishore, Aruna Irani, Dina Pathak, Kiran Kumar and Dinesh Hingoo also played important characters in the film. The melodious music of the movie was directed by the music director Anu Malikw hile the songs were rendered by Suresh Wadkar, Mohammed Aziz, Alka Yagnik, Anuradha Paudwal, Asha Bhonsle etc.

The movie starts with a guy named Govinda ( Mithun Chakraborthy ), who is living a middle class lifestyle alongwith his mother ( Dina Pathak ) in the city. He is fond of singing and dancing and wants to make a career in it. He come across a beautiful girl named Pinky ( Amrita Singh ). He get attracted towards her and Pinky also falls in love with him. Soon they both decides to get married to each other. But pinky’s father, Rai Bahadur ( Shammi Kapooor ) refuse to accept Govinda as his son-in-law.

Rai Bahadur forbids Pinky from meeting with Govinda anymore. He also decides to get Pinky married to a guy named Ajit ( Shakti Kapoor ). Govinda and Pinky then decides to escape from there. Rai Bahadur sends his goons to kill Govinda. Govinda beats them all and make them run from there. Govinda and Pinky then decides to get married in a temple as soon as possible.
