Bollywood action thriller, Kartavya, directed by Raj Kanwar was released in the year 1995. The movie starred Sanjay Kapoor and Juhi Chawla in lead roles while Maushami Chatterjee, Amrish Puri, Om Puri, Aruna Irani, Gulshan Grover, Mohnish Behl, Aashif Sheikh and Alok Nath also played important roles in the movie. The music of the film was given by Sameer Sen and Dilip Sen while the songs were sung by Kumar Sanu, Sadhana Sargam, Alka Yagnik, Vinod Rathod, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Udit Narayan, Pankaj Udhas etc. The movie was a box office hit and benefitted Sanjay Kapoor’s acting career in the Hindi film industry.

Karan ( Sanjay Kapoor ) is a well settled guy who is in love with a beautiful girl named Kajal ( Juhi Chawla ). He plans to get married with her but on the engagement day he learns some truth about himself and about his past life. Gayetri ( Aruna Irani ) is a mental pateint who somehow managed to escape from the Mental hospital. She is the sister of an evil guy Ugranarayan ( Amrish Puri ), who tried to kill her in the past but unfortunately her child was killed in place of her.

Just after the escape of Gayetri from the Mental Hospital a series of deaths starts in the family of Ugranarayan. Police suspects on Gayetri forthis but later learns that there is somenone else who is behind these murders. Gayetri also learns that her child is still alive and was not murdered by Ugranarayan’s goon, Ghulam Rasul ( Om Puri ). Now Gayetri is in search of her child? What about Karan and Kajal? What is the past of Karan?
