Kartoos was an action movie released on May 7, 1999. The movie was directed by Mahesh Bhatt and produced by Firoz Nadiadwala. The top roles in the movie were played by Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff, Manisha Koirala and Gulshan Grover while the supporting roles were played by Jaspal Bhatti and Kamal Chopra. The music of the film was directed by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Anu Malik while the songs were sung by Udit Narayan, Jay Shree, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Alka Yagnik and Abhijeet.

The movie Kartoos was about terror attacks in a city and the steps taken to curb them. The film was about the terrorist Jagatjogia ( Gulshan Grover ) who is creating panic in the sity by exploding bombs in public areas. This was a top secret mission to eliminate him and was termed as Kartoos. The terrorist Jagatjogia was so much dreaded that while sitting in London, he was operating in India. The Indian police was unable to catch him and bring India to put behind the bars.

ACP Jay Suryavanshi ( Jackie Shroff ) devise an idea to catch Jagatjogia. He wanted to use a criminal to get rid off that criminal. He wanted to use Jeet Balraj ( Sanjay Dutt ) for his operations who has been sentenced death punishment by the court. Jay gives him a new reason to live. If he gets Jay’s work done, then Jeet will be released from their custody. While on his flight to London, Jeet meets Mini ( Manisha Koirala ) and falls in love with her. Jay was worried about his mission as Jeet got himself in love in the mid of the mission.
