The romantic movie Kehta Hai Dil Baar Baar was released on November 15, 2002 under the banner of Video Sound. The movie was directed by Rahul Dholakia and produced by Kishore Dadlaney. The top roles in the movie were played by Jimmy Shergill, Paresh Rawal, Kim Sharma and Johny Lever while Neena Kulkarni and Parzun Dastur were also there in the film. The movie revolves around a Gujarati businessman Ranchodlal Patel ( Paresh Rawal ), who is more interested to call himself Roger Patel than the Gujarati name. He has a daughter Dr. Ritu Patel ( Kim Sharma ) who is a resident of New York Hospital. Another character Sunder Kapoor ( Jimmy Shergill ) runs a mobile food joint called “India on Wheels”.

Roger Patel is an Indian living in America after he migrated from Gujarat to Edison, New Jersey. The hotel owner has changed a lot adopting the language and the culture of the West but he has also managed to keep his Gujarati traditions and values alive. His greatest concern these days is to find the right match for his daughters ( Kim Sharma and Toral Mehta ). For someone to marry his daughter, he should be able to satisfy 3P’s that is he should be “Professional Patel owning a Property”.
