The social drama Kyon Ki was released on November 2, 2005 under the banners of Orion Pictures and MAD Entertainment Ltd. The movie was directed by Priyadarshan and produced by Mukesh Talreja and Sunil Manchanda. The lead roles were played by actors Salman Khan, Rimi Sen, Kareena Kapoor and Om Puri while the presence of Asrani and Jackie Shroff supported the film. The music of the film was directed by Himesh Reshammiya and the songs were sung by Udit Narayan, Kailash Kher, Alka Yagnik and Radha.

The movie Kyon Ki is actually the remake of director Priyadarshan’s Malayalam film “Thalavattam” and is the first film of actors Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor together. Kyon Ki is based on the topic that “Can love happen again”. The movie was earlier titled as “Rahein Na Rahein Hum”, then “Kyunki” and finally Kyon Ki. Anand ( Salman Khan ) is a normal guy who falls in love with a pretty gal Maya ( Rimi Sen ). He tries to impress her and win her heart and gradually they both fall in love. In some accident Maya gets killed and Anand was accused of her muder and was sent to a mental hospital.

Anand starts enjoying his life there singing and dancing and thus made new friends in his room mates. The hospital was run by Dr. Khurana ( Om Puri ) who believed that the insane people can only be treated with a stick and not flowers. His daughter Dr. Tanvi Khurana ( Kareena Kapoor ) worked in the same hospital and had a small soft corner for Anand. She understood him well and wanted to know his past happenings. She came to know about the truth and helped him recover from his problems.
