The social movie Laaga Chunari Mein Daag was released on October 12, 2007 under the banner of Yash Raj Films. The movie has been directed and produced by Pradeep Sarkar. The stars in the lead roles are Jaya Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Mukherjee, Konkona Sen Sharma, Anupam Kher and Kunal Kapoor while Hema Malini, Tinu Anand and Harsh Chhaya also played important roles. The music director of the film is Shantanu Moitra and the singers are Sunidhi Chauhan, Babul Supriyo, Shreya Ghosal, Mahalakshmi Iyer, Sonu Nigam and KK.

The movie is well directed but lacks a good script. The movie is about a girl named Badki ( Rani Mukherji ) who is a simple, innocent, fun loving girl of Banaras and believes in living life to the fullest. She faces her difficult time with smiles and even didn’t mind leaving her studies when her family faced some problems. Chutki ( Konkona Sen Sharma ) loves her sister Badki a lot but also enjoys playing pranks on her and was unawares of the sacrifices made by her sister for keep her studying. She succeeds and finds a man of her dreams.

Sabitri ( Jaya Bachchan ) the woman behind the Sahay family is the perfect woman who is bearing several problems for making her family stand tall. Her husband’s bad health is the biggest problem she is facing at present. Shivshankar Sahay ( Anupam Kher ) is the man shattered by time and his hoping to get some better by buying lottery tickets. Badki decides to go to Mumbai to earn some money and improve her family’s state. Badki, even, let love get away as she believed that it was not her destiny. The English speaking modern girl, now, meets Rohan ( Abhishek Bachchan ) who fell in love with her. She was then blackmailed by her cousin ( Sushant Singh ) in Mumbai.
