Bollywood yesteryear hit movie, Laawaris, directed by Prakash Mehra and written by Kadar Khan was released on May 22, 1981. The movie starred Amitabh Bachchan and Zeenat Aman in lead roles while Amjad Khan, Ranjeet, Suresh Oberoi, Nandita Das, Bindu, Vikas Anand, Rakhee Gulzar, Jeevan, Om Prakash, Goga Kapoor, Satyendra Kapoor, Khusboo, Madhu Malini, Neelam Mehra and Preeti Sapru also played important characters in the film. The hit music of the movie was directed by the famous music director duo Kalyanji-Anandji while the songs were crooned by Kishore Kumar, Manna Dey, Asha Bhonsle and Alka Yagnik.

Young but poor, Heera ( Amitabh Bachchan ) gets a job in Mahender Singh’s ( Ranjeet ) firm. Mahender is the nephew of Ranvir Singh ( Amjad Khan ), who is a wealhy person and Mahender is the only possible candidate of Ranvir’s wealth after him. Ranvir meets with Heera and is so impresssed by him in the very first meeting. Heera meets with his childhood friend Mohini ( Zeenat Aman ) and after recognizing each other, they falls in love with each other and decides to get married soon. Mahender has some bad habits which are not liked by Ranvir at all and he wants him to get rid of those things before his death.

Ranvir starts developing a very soft corner for Heera in his heart and starts treating him as his own son. Ranvir later finds out that Heera is actually his illegimate child from his late girlfriend, Vidya ( Rakhee Gulzar ). But he is not strong enough to tell this truth to Heera and to accept him in front of the society. Mahender also learns about the realtionship between Ranvir and Heera, and plans to frame Heera in the murder and rape case. Mahender even tries to kill Ranvir. What will happen next?
