Bollywood movie, Lage Raho Munna Bhai, directed by Rajkumar Hirani was released on September 1, 2006. The movie starred Sanjay Dutt, Arshad Warsi and Vidya Balan in lead roles while Boman Irani, Dilip Prabhavalkar, Dia Mirza and Jimmy Shergill played important roles in teh film. Abhishek Bachchan did a special appearance in the film. The music of the film was given by Shantanu Moitra. The movie was distributed under the banner of Vidhu Vinod Chopra Productions. It was the second film in the popular Munna Bhai series of Bollywood. The movie did well at the box office and became one of the big hit of that year. The film recieved four National Film Awards of India.

The movie starts with Munna Bhai ( Sanjay Dutt ), a Mumbai underworld don, who is in love with the voice of a radio jockey , janhavi ( Vidya Balan ). He got a chance to meet her after winning a contest based on Mahatma Gandhi’s life. But when he goes to meet Janhavi, he lies to her that he is a professor of history and a follower of Gandhiji’s belifes. Janhavi asks him to present a lecture on Gandhiji to a community of senior citizens who live in her home. In order to prepare for the speech, he goes for a period of intense study on Gandhiji. Because of this intense study, an image of Ganghiji or bapu apperas in front of Munna and he begins to see the spirit of Mahatma Gandhi.

Bapu helps Munna in winning Janhavi’s heart. Munna starts hosting a radio-show with Janhavi and give advice to audiences to solve everyday problems. On the otherhand, Lucky Singh ( Boman Irani ) is a businessman, whose daughter, Simran ( Diya Mirza ), is engaged to marry Kkhurana’s ( Kulbhushan Kharbanda ) son, Sunny. Lucky takeovers ‘Second Innings House’ ( Janhavi’s home ). In response, Munna launches a non-voilence protest to get back the house. Bapu helps him in that. In the end Munna wins the fight and Janhavi’s heart too.
