Bollywood romantic musical drama, Laila Majnu, directed by Harnam Singh Rawail and written by Abrar Alvi was released in the year 1976. The movie starred Rishi Kapoor and Ranjeeta Kaur in lead roles while Danny Denzongpa, Iftekhar, Aruna Irani, Raza Murad, Kamaldeep, Achala Sachdev, Paintal, Jagdish Raj, Asrani and Sunder also played important roles in the film. The hit music of the movie was given by the music director Madan Mohan and Jaidev Verma in collaboration while the songs were sung by Mohammed Rafi, Lata Mangeshkar, Anuradha, Shankar Shambhu and Aziz Naza.

Kaish Amari ( Rishi Kapoor ) belongs to a wealthy Islamic family. He is in love with a beautiful girl named Laila ( Ranjeeta Kaur ), who was his school mate. Kaish and Laila are still very much in love with each other and wants to get married. But Laila’s father is not happy with their relationship and wants Laila to get married to another welathy guy named Prince Bahksh ( Danny Denzongpa ). Kaish fails to get Laila out of his mind and starts roaming around the deserts without food and drink.

Kaish becomes famous with the name of Majnu. Laila is about to get married with Prince Bahksh. Kaish gives his last try to stop this marraige. But his attempt fails once again. Majnu is then severely beaten up by the mens of Prince Bahksh. What will happen to this love story of Laila and Majnu?
