Lavaa was a family drama released on January 18, 1985. The movie was directed by Ravindra Peepat and produced by Balbir Kaur. The major roles in the movie were played by Raj Babbar, Rajeev Kapoor, Dimple Kapadia and Asha Parekh while the roles of Madan Puri, Rajendra Nath and Kulbhushan Kharbanda were equally important. The music of the film was directed by R D Burman while the songs were sung by Asha Bhosle, Kishore Kumar, Shailendra Singh, Lata Mangeshkar and Manmohan Singh.

Lavaa was a family flick that revolved mostly around a man named Amar ( Rajiv Kapoor ) who is an unemployed person living a poor lifestyle with his mother ( Asha Parekh ) in India. He was unemployed and didn’t find a job after making lot of efforts. He spent most of the time on his love interest named Rinku Dayal ( Dimple Kapadia ). One day his mother discovers that he has been busy writing love letters to his girlfriend, she then asks him to introduce her.

Amar’s mother agrees of Rinku and one day both of the love birds married to each other. But Amar’s mother warned Rinku that Amar is fated to die under water so she should always ensure that he is staying away from rivers, lakes and other stuffs like swimming pools. Amar didn’t know how to swim and the movie takes a turn when one day Amar falls into a river and was believed dead. Six months later when Amar returns home, her mother was joyous to see him back.
