Bollywood comics action flick, Loafer, directed by David Dhawan was released on June 7, 1996. The movie starred Anil Kapoor and Juhi Chawla in lead roles while Mukesh Rishi, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Farida Jalal, Deep Dhillon, Shakti Kapoor, Upasana Singh, Tiku Talsania, Gulshan Grover and Ishrat Ali also played important roles in the film. The music of the film was given by Anand-Milind in collaboration with Shyam-Sunder while the songs were rendered by Udit Narayan, Shankar Mahadevan, Vinod Rathod, Alka yagnik, Poornima, Gayatri Iyer etc. The movie proved out to be just an average hit at the box office window.

The movie starts with Ravi Kumar ( Anil Kapoor ), who is an unemployed guy and is always blessed with some negative comments from his father ( Kulbhushan Kharbanda ). His father tries to get him a job somewhere but he always commit mistakes and is thrown out of the job place. Ravi’s problem is that he can’t stand to the wrong habits and works. Ravi meets with a beautiful girl named Kiran mathur ( Juhi Chawla ) and instantly falls in love with her. Kiran too falls for his innocence and honesty. but she is also not happy with his habits of getting in trouble again in again.

One day while returning home, Ravi sees some goons trying to kill a man and he tries to save him. But he fails and the guy is murdered by the goons. He fights with them but he is arrested by police in the charge of that murder. No one comes forward to speak truth in front of police because of the terror of Badshah ( Mukesh Rishi ). Ravi is sentenced to jail but his family is still hoping to save him and therefore they ask him to stand in election for the Mayor’s chair. As all the locals of the society knows about ravi’s good behaviour and loving character, so all decides to vote in the favour of Ravi. But is it that simple to fight election and to register a win in it?
