Bollywood family drama, Main Chup Rahoongi, directed by A. Bhimsingh was released in the year 1962. The movie starred Sunil Dutt and Meena Kumari in lead roles while Raj Mehra, Mohan Choti, Gajanan Jagridar, Shanti, Nana Palsiker and Helen also played important characters in the film. The hit evergreen music of the movie was directed by the feamle music director Chitra Gupta while the songs were rendered by Mohammed Rafi, Lata Mangeshkar etc.

The movie starts with a guy named Narayan ( Nana Palsiker ), who works as a labourer for wealthy businessman named Ratan Kumar ( Gajanan Jagridar ). Narayan lives alongwith his daughter named Gayatri ( Meena Kumari ), who works as a teacher in the village. He get shocked when some women of his village tells him that Gayatri is pregnant. He then confront Gayatri about this, who refuse to answer his question. Angered Narayan was just about to beat Gayatri when Ratan intervenes and offers him money to get settled some where else.

Gayatri gives birth to a child and the child is then donated to an orphanage by Ratan. Gayatri is told that the child was still born. Gayatri then gets a job in the same orphanage where her son named Shyam is living. Ratan’s son, Kamal Kumar ( Sunil Dutt ) then returns from singapore after completing his studies. When he reveals that Gayatri is working as a teacher in the orphanage, he ask the manager to fire her as she is not of good character.
