The romantic movie Mashooq was released on July 10, 1992. The movie was directed by Mahrukh and featured Ayub Khan, Beena, Ayesha Jhulka and Kiran Kumar in the lead roles while the supporting roles were played by Raza Murad, Pran and Tabu. The music of the film was directed by Shyam and Surender while the songs were sung by Kumar Sanu, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Abhijeet, Gauhar Kanpuri, Udit Narayan, Alka Yagnik, Asha Bhosle and Sadhna Sargam.

Mashooq was a romantic movie and its genre can be easily guessed from its title. The story of the movie revolves mostly around Suman Rai ( Beena ) who lives in a huge house with her two brothers Kedarnath ( Pran ) and Sandeep ( Raza Murad ). Her romantic life got on a high when she came across a middle class man named Shankar Kumar ( Kiran Kumar ). She falls in love with him and also introduces him to her brothers who didn’t like him and rejected him at the very first sight.

Suman’s brothers also asks her to not to meet him again but she supports her love and both gets married. Angry with this, her brother Sandeep takes a gun and rushes to the venue. This starts a battle between him and Shankar and accidentally Sandeep gets killed. The police arrest him and brings him before the court which declares him innocent. Suman goes to live with Shankar and his younger brother Karan Kumar ( Ayub Khan ). Karan grew and falls in love with Nisha ( Ayesha Jhulka ) who comes out to be Kedarnath’s daughter.
