Mast Kalandar was an action movie released in 1991. The movie was produced and directed by Rahul Rawail. The main roles in the movie were played by Dharmendra, Dimple Kapadia, Anupam Kher and Amrish Puri. Some appreciable roles were played by Shammi Kapoor, Shakti Kapoor, Prem Chopra and Nandita Thakur. The music of the movie was given by Laxmikant Kudalkar and Pyarelal while the songs were sung by Sudesh Bhosle, Mohammad Aziz and Kavita Krishnamurthy. The lyrics were written by Anand Bakshi.

In the movie Rai Bahadur Pratap Singh is a rich and powerful man. His wife is dead and he lives with his son ( Anil Dhawan ). His son also has a very lavish lifestyle but has different choice as he fells in love with a poor women and wanted to marry her. Pratap wants to marry him in a family compatible with their status but his son disobeyed him and left the house to marry his love. Years later Pratap comes to know that his son is dead and his daughter in law and their son, Guddu will soon join him.

He becomes happy and was all set to welcome them when he receives shocking news that they both are missing. He sends his men in search of them and hears from them that his daughter in law is dead and they bring Guddu along with them. Later Pratap comes to know that she was killed and it wasn’t a natural death. Guddu was also not able to gel with him and showed hatred towards Pratap shattering his emotions. Pratap started investigating who the murderer was and the reason behind it.
