Bollywood romantic drama, Mehndi, directed by Hamid Ali Khan was released on November 13, 1998. The movie starred Faraaz Khan and Rani Mukherjee in lead roles while Shakti Kapoor, Shagufta Ali, Himani Shivpuri and Arjun also played important roles in the movie. The music of the film was given by Babul and the songs were sung by Udit Narayan, Alka Yagnik etc. Despite having a decent performance from Rani in the film, the movie proved out to be a huge box office failure at the box office. The movie was also the debut film of Rani.

The movie starts with a beautiful but poor girl named Pooja ( Rani Mukherjee ), who get married to a handsome guy, Niranjan Chaudhary ( Faraaz Khan ). Niranjan is the son of a rich zamindar. Niranjan alongwith his in-laws starts torchering Pooja fro dowry. But Pooja never gives up in front of their cruel behaviour. She is beated by his husband and others but never gives her hope that one day the mindset of her in-laws will get changed. She tries everything to change the negative behavious of her husband into positive but fails.

Niranjan drive her out of his house. When Pooja’s father come to know about this, he dies of shock. The Pooja decides to teach her husband and his family members a lesson. Pooja once again enters Niranjan’s house and stands against all of the family members. She is supported by Billoo ( Arjun ). But will she be able to teach them a lesson or they will throw her again out of their house?
