Mera Dost Mera Dushman was an action flick, released in 1984. Raj Khosla directed and Johnny Bakshi produced the movie. The key roles of the movie were enacted by Shatrughan Sinha, Smita Patil and Danny Denzongpa while Trilok Kapoor, Mukri, Geeta Behl and Johnny Walker played the supporting roles. Laxmikant Pyarelal gave the music and Kishore Kumar sang the songs for the movie. Anand Bakshi was the lyricist.

Bahadur Singh ( Trilok Kapoor ) leads a mob of hooligans. His two sons Shakti ( Shatrughan Sinha ) and Shaitan ( Danny Denzongpa ) also accompanies him. One day, during a looting riot in Jamalpur Village, Shakti is badly injured. All his fellow beings leave him, as they believe that he is dead. Harkishen ( Mukri )and his daughter, Lali ( Smita Patil ) shelters him at their place. He regains his conscious after a few days. He is attracted towards Lali, however she refuses to marry a fraud and corrupt man. Therefore, he changes himself and starts leading a descent life.

He decides to assist a near-blind woman, Janki ( Indrani Mukherjee ) , to plow her land. When Shaitan discovers that Shakti is alive, he along with his father set off to bring him back, but he refuses. Disappointed to his refusal, he plans to kill him, but someone else kills Bahadur before he attempts. Infuriated Shaitan wishes to find out his father’s murderer, and decides to kill one villager every week until Shakti and the villagers point out who the killer is. It is then revealed that Shakti and Shaitan were not biological brothers instead, Shakti was Janki’s son.
