The romantic movie Mera Saathi was released in the year of 1985. The movie was directed by D K Raghvendra Rao and produced by K Keshav Rao. The top roles in the movie were enacted by Jeetendra, Asrani, Jaya Prada and Aruna Irani while the supporting roles were played by Rajeev Kapoor, Mandakini, Amjad Khan, Shakti Kapoor and Sharat Saxena. The music of the film was directed by Bappi Lahiri while the songs were sung by Bappi Lahiri, Asha Bhosle, Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar and SP Balasubramanyam.

The movie Mera Saathi was a romantic flick that revolved mostly around a man named Ranga ( Jeetendra ) who is not more than a fearful goon of the city whom people fear the most. His daily work includes beating people ruthlessly for money. The movie takes a turn when he comes across a beautiful girl named Ragini ( Jaya prada ) who wanted to have shelter in his house for some time as she was escaping from a man named Bansi Das ( Shakti Kapoor ).

Bansi was after Ragini as he wanted to marry her, not because he loved her but because he wanted to have the wealth of her father. Ranga agrees to give her shelter but eventually ends up falling for her. Both loved each other and one day tied the knots with each other. Ragini wanted him to surrender himself to the police and be a good man throughout his remaining life. He agrees and with her help, he transforms into the Seth Rangnath. Ragini gives birth to a daughter named Shanti ( Mandakini ).
