Bollywood movie, Mera Saya, directed by Raj Khosla was released in the year 1966. The movie starred Sunil Dutt and Sadhana in lead roles while Prem Chopra, Anwar Hussain and K.N. Singh also played important roles in the movie. The superhit and evergreen music of the film was given by Madan Mohan and the songs were sung by Mohammed Rafi, Asha Bhonsle and Lata Mangeshkar. The lyrics of the movie were written by Raja Mehndi Ali Khan. The movie was well recieved by the audiences as well as critics and went on to do good business at the box office.

The film starts with, Takhur Rakesh Singh ( Sunil Dutt ), whose wife Geeta ( Sadhna ) dies after a prolonged illness. After her death, RaKesh becomes very upset and depressed. He always keep thinking of her and the beautiful days with her in past. But he gets shocked after getting a news that a girl Sunaina ( Sadhna ), who is a criminal and has been arrested with her gang members, claiming that she is his wife, Geeta.

He meets with Sunaina to know the truth. But when he goes to meet this woman, he once again get shocked to see that the woman indeed resembles his wife. Rakesh disagreed to the fact that she is his wife as he had himself cremated his wife. The matter then goes into court. Matter becomes even worse when Daku Suryavar Singh ( Prem Chopra ) also appears in the scenerio. Then begins Rakesh’s journey to unfold the real truth behind the scenes. What is the truth? Whether Sunaina is Rakesh’s real wife or the one he had cremated in the past?
