The movie Mere Baap Pehle Aap was released on June 13, 2008 under the banner of Shemaroo Entertainment. The movie belongs to comedy and social genre. The movie has been directed by Priyadarshan and produced by Raman Maroo, Ketan Maroo and Mansi Maroo. It is thought that it is the foremost duty of the parents to take care of their children and make them stand on their feet, but how many children lives up to their expectation? Well not in this case, Janaradhan Wishvanbhar Rane ( Paresh Rawal ) has devoted his life in upbringing his kids Chirag ( Manoj Joshi ) and Gaurav ( Akshaye Khanna ) and playing role of both father and mother. Chirag lives separate with his wife. Gaurav loves his father very much and often treats him like his son. Rane’s friend Madhav Mathur ( Om Puri ) is a prankster and desperate to get married and therefore often gets caught by police inspector Bhavani ( Archana Puran Singh ).

Gaurav is all set to start his business and gets some prank calls from a girl who turns out to be his old college friend Sheekha Kapoor ( Genelia D’souza ) who is living in the same city with her teacher and Rane’s first love Anuradha Joshi ( Shobhana ). Then after a friend’s wedding Gaurav and Sheekha notices a change in behavior of Rane and Anuradha and thus comes to know about their love. Gaurav requests his father to get married to Anuradha but Sheekha’s father Mr. Kapoor ( Naseeruddin Shah ) was against this. Later Kapoor realizes how much Gaurav loved his father and so agrees on on Sheekha’s wedding with Gaurav. Madhav also finds his love in inspector Bhavani.
