Bollywood movie, Mere Gharib Nawaz, directed by Mehboob Sarwar was released in the year 1973. The movie starred Nasir Hussain and Mumtaz Begum in lead roles while Bharat Bhushan, Nazneen, Jalal Agha, C. S. Dubey, Agha, Jagdeep, Satish Arora and Anwar Ali also played significant characters in the film. The melodious hit music of the movie was composed by the well known music director while the songs were rendered by Mohammed Rafi, Asha Bhonsle etc.

The movie starts with a guy named Mirza Baig ( Nasir Hussain ), who lives a wealthy lifestyle in his palatial house alongwith his wife. But the only reason for their unhappiness is that they have been unable to concieve even after 15 years of their marraige. Then they visits the holy dhargah of Khawaja Gharib Nawaz in Ajmer and soon they are blessed with a baby child. They give the name ‘Yusuf’ to their child. years later, Yusuf ( Satish Arora ) is now a grown up guy and is very good looking and intelligent.

Yusuf is in love with a girl named Salma ( Nazneen ), who also studies in the same college. But problem starts when Yusuf’s marraige is arranged somewhere else by his parents. Yusuf decides to get married with his parent’s choice but get shcoked to reveal that his wife is none other than Salma herself. Yusuf then accompanies his parents for a visit to Mecca and Madina leaving behind Salma alone in the city.
