Bollywood romantic movie, Mere Humsafar, starring Jeetendra and Sharmila Tagore in lead roles was released in the year 1970. The movie was directed by Dulal Guha. The other starcast of the film includes Balraj Sahni, Jagdeep, Jeevan, Laxmi Chayya, Sunder, Keshto Mukherjee, Prakash Thapa and Ramayan Tiwari in significant chracaters in the film. The melodious music of the film was directed by the music director duo Kalyanji-Anandji while the songs were rendered by Mahendra Kapoor, Mukesh, Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhonsle. The movie did well at the box office.

The movie starts with Raju ( Jeetendra ), who is famous with the petname of ‘Junglee’ in his village. After his father death, Raju is forcibly thrown out of the village as he was unable t repay the loan of a money lender. Raju decides to earn money throw his hardwork so that he can throw the money on the face of that money lender. Raju stows away in the back of a truck to go to Bombay. He learns that there is already another stowaway in the truck who is actually a girl named Tarna ( Sharmila Tagore ). Tarna is also going to Mumbai as her father was forcing her to marry an old man in return of some money.

Both, Raju and Tarna, falls in love with each other and promise to get married to each other after arriving Bombay. But while borading a train they get seperated. Raju somehow reaches Mumbai but no one provides him job and in the end he is forced to become a criminal for living. Raju then learns that Tarna is in Mumbai and is now a famous bollywood actress named Meenakshi. He tries to meet her but is told by a man named Ashok ( Balraj Sahni ) that she is his wife. Devasted Raju decides to forget her but fails. Will Tarna ever be able to learns that Raju had come to meet her? What will be the end of this love story?
