Bollywood family drama, Meri Bhabhi, directed by Khalid Akhtar and written by Ranjan Bose was released in the year 1969. The movie starred Sunil Dutt and Waheeda Rehman in lead roles while Aruna Irani, Kamini Kaushal, Kanhaiyalal, Lalita Pawar, Raj Mehra and Mehmood also played important charcters in the film. The hit evergreen music of the movie was directed by well known veteran music director duo Laxmikant Pyarelal while the songs were rendered by Mohammed Rafi, Manna dey, Lata Mangeshkar etc.

The movie starts with a guy named Raju ( Sunil Dutt ), who is living a happy life alongwith his elder brother and bhabhi, Shanti ( Kamini Kaushal ). Raju falls in love with a beautiful girl named Maya ( Waheeda Rehman ) and tell this to her Bhabhi, whom he treat as his mother. Soon Raju and Maya get married to each other. Destiny strikes and pregnant Shanti meets with a severe accident in which she looses his child. However, Shanti is not known to the death of her child. Raju and Maya then give their child to Shanti telling her that the child belongs to her only.

Then enters a bad woman named Gangajali ( Lalita Pawar ), who misguides Shanti against Raju and Maya. She even misguide her that Raju and Maya are eyeing on her child. As a result of it, Raju and Maya are humiliated by Shanti and she even tell them to keep a distance from the child. Situation gets even worse when the child is abducted by someone and Shanti confronts Raju and Maya for the kidnapping of child.
