Bollywood action thriller, Meri Jung, directed by Subhash Ghai and written by Javed Akhtar was released on August 11, 1985. The movie starred Anil Kapoor and Meenakshi Sheshadri in lead roles while Nutan, Beena Banerjee, Amrish Puri, Javed Jaffrey, Iftekhar, Parikshat Sahni, Sudhir, Khusboo, Viju Khote, Girish Karnad and Kamal Kapoor also played significant characters in the film. The meloidous music of the film was composed by the vetraan music director duo Lamikant-Pyarelkal while the songs were rendered by Kishore Kumar. Lata Mangeshkar, Shabbir Kumar, Mohammed Aziz etc. The movie did exceptionally well at the box officeb window.

Honest officer, Deepak Verma ( Girish Karnad ), is proved guilty in the court by cruel lawyer, G. D. Thakral ( Amrish Puri ) and is sentenced to death. Deepak’s wife Aart ( Nutan ) goes in trauma and is sent to mental hospital. Deepak’s son, Arun Verma ( Anil Kapoor ) is determined to avenge the injustice dome to his father from Thakral. He works hard and becomes an advocate. Arun is approached by Geeta Mathur ( Meenakshi Sheshadri ) to fight her brother’s case, who is framed in a wrong case. When Arun learns that Thakral will be the opposition lawyer then he decides to take the case. Arun evetually wins the case and becomes famous.

Thakral’s son Vicky ( Javed Jaffrey ), who is studying in the same college in which Arun’s younger sister, Komal, is studying, make her fall in love with him. Vicky performs a murder of his ex-girlfirned so that she can not revelas his truth in front of Komal. Mean while, Arun meets with his mother, Aarti, who has now recovered from her mental problem. BUt once again Thakral comes into their life to make their happiness into sadness.
