Bollywood movie, Mohabbat, directed by Reema Rakeshnath was released in the year 1997. the movie starred Sanjay Kapoor , Akshaye Khanna and Madhuri Dixit in lead roles while Farooq Sheikh, Tej Sapru, Raj Kamal, Farida Jalal, Saeed Jaffrey, Ashwin Kaushal and Dakshina Nath also played important roles in the film. The music of the film was given by music director combo Nadeem-Shravan while the songs were sung by Udit Narayan, Sonu Nigam, Vinod Rathod, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Abhijeet etc. The movie failed to do well at the box office and proved out to be one of the huge box office failure of that year.

Young and handsome Gaurav Kapoor ( Sanjay Kapoor ) belongs to a rich family. His family comprises of his father, Madan Kapoor ( Saeed Jaffrey ), his mother Geetarani Kapoor ( Farida Jalal ) and a younger sister. One day he is attacked by some goons and a young guy named Rohit Malhotra ( Akshaye Khanna ) comes to his rescue. Rohit is uneployed and Gaurav hires him in his company. Soon both becomes very good friends. But unfortunately they both falls in love with the same girl named Shweta Sharma ( Madhuri Dixit ).

But Shweta actually loves Rohit and when Gaurav learns about this, he takes his stpes back. Shweta and Rohit are planning to get married but unfortunately rohit is attacked by the same goons who attacked on Gaurav and they ends up throwing him off the terrace. Shweta get shocked with the news of Rohit’s death and as a result loses her voice. Gaurav marries Shweta and just after their marraige Shweta starts seeing Rohit. She also learns that gaurav is hiding something from her.
