The comical family drama, flick Mohan Joshi Hazir Ho! was released in 1984.Saeed Akhtar Mirza directed as well as produced the movie. The star cast of the movie included Naseruddin Shah, Bhisham Sahni, Rohini Hattangadi and Dina Pathak while Pankaj Kapoor, Satish Shah, Amjad Khan and Deepti Naval played the supporting roles. Vanraj Bhatia gave the music.

Mohan Joshi Hazir Ho! is a brilliant flick on the housing troubles faced by middle-class leaseholders in Mumbai .It also enlightens up the issue of outdated Indian judicial system where cases drag on and on and on and on… An aged couple, Mohan Joshi ( Bhisham Sahni ) and his wife ( Dina Pathak ) decides to prosecute against their landlord, Kundan Kapadia ( Amjad Khan ), for not maintaining their collapsing chawl. In defense, the landlord also heirs two lawyers ( Naseeruddin Shah and Satish Shah ),although he is least anxious about the case.

Kapadia wished that Mohan and his family evacuated the chawl so that he could demolish it. The court case drags on for years and the lawyers conspiring with the opposition lawyer ( Rohini Hattangadi ) emptied Mohan’s accesses with their endless payments. In the intervening time in the housing society, the aged couple is embarrassed for combating the landlord, but they don’t lose hope. When the judge introspects the condition of the chawl, Kapadia succeeds in convincing the judge. Finally, Joshi pulls down the temporary supports put up by Kapadia’s men causing the building to collapse on himself…
