Bollywood romantic comedy drama, Monsoon Wedding, directed by Mira Nair and written by Sabrina Dhawan was released on December 12, 2001. The movie starred Praveen Dabas and Vasundhara Das in lead roles while Naseeruddin Shah, Lillete Dubey, Vijay Raaz, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Shefali Shetty, Randeep Hooda, Rajat Kapoor and Kamini Khanna also played significant characters in the film. The musicof the movie was directed by the music director Mychael Danna while the songs were rendered by Sukhwinder Singh, Brij Narayan and Mychael Danna.

The movie starts with young and beautiful, Aditi Verma ( Vasundhara Das ) agrees to marry according to her parent’s will when she ends up her affair with a Tv Producer. She is living in New Delhi alongwith her family. Her parents finds a groom, who is an Indian but right now living in Texas. The marriage is arranged by the family members. All relatives from both families comes to attand the wedding during the monsoon season from distant places. Weddding planner, P. K. Dubey ( Vijayraaz ) is assigned the task of doing all the arrangements of the wedding.

But the problem arises when the bride, Aditi goes missing from her room. However, her parenst keep this a secret from the others. Aditi is actually off to meet her ex-lover. But when she returns to the home for her wedding, she finds everything changed. She is going to have a shock of her life after returning to her home or the wedding place.
