Bollywood romantic flick, Mr. Romeo, directed by Subhash Mukherjee was released in the year 1974. The movie starred Shashi Kapoor and Achala Sachdev in lead roles while Rinku Jaiswal, Narendra Nath, Kiran Kumar, Utpal Dutt, Pinchoo Kapoor, Ranjeet, Sarita and Rajan Haksar also played important characters in the film. The melodious music of the movie was directed by the well known veteran music director Rahul Dev Burman while the songs were rendered by Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhonsle.

The movie starts with Saxena ( Utpal Dutt ), who is the eye witness of a murder performed by his friend’s son. His friend’s son is arrested by police and it is then Pal ( Rajan Haksar ) requests Saxena to change his statement in the court. But Saxena refuse to do so and as a result of this Pal’s son is sentenced to death by court. Years later, Saxena’s two sons, Ramesh ( Shashi Kapoor ) and Suresh ( Kiran Kumar ) are grown up guys now. Ramesh and Suresh are just opposite in nature from each other. Ramesh likes to enjoy his life to the fullest while Suresh always remains busy in his studies.

Pal’s second son, Prem befriends Suresh and introduces him to a beautiful girl. Soon Suresh gets addicted to that girl and drugs. He decides to get married with her and introduces her to his father. Saxena and Ramesh refuse to accept that girl as Suresh’s wife. Ramesh is in love with a girl named Sheetal ( Rinku Jaiswal ). Shekhar’s girfriend is killed by someone and Suresh believes that Ramesh has killed her. He abducts Sheetal and asks Ramesh to confess the reality of his girlfriend’s murder.
