Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost was an action comedy movie released on August 22, 2003 under the banner of Rubberband Films. The movie was directed by Apoorva Lakhia and produced by Vishal Nihalani. The major roles were enacted by Abhishek Bachchan, Aditya Lakhia, Lara Dutta and Yashpal Sharma while the presence of Chunky Pandey and Rageshwari supported the film. Music of the film was directed by Anu Malik and the songs were sung by Alka Yagnik, Sunidhi Chauhan, Sonu Nigam and Mahalakshmi Iyer.

India is a big country and its most of the population lives in the villages spread across whole of the nation. Our Indian Rural Department has done quite good things to raise its standards but there are still thousands of villages who don’t even have electricity. The film is directed by newcomer Apoorva Lakhia who studied films at New York University. The movie has been mostly shot at these villages and revolves around urbanization of villages throughout India.

The movie showcases the time of one month in the life of Kanji ( Abhishek Bachchan ). His efforts in his grandfather’s remote village in Rajasthan, sparked up the electricity. This surely excited the people at home but they are to be informed that it is just the beginning of power struggle. KC ( Lara Dutta ), daughter of Thakur, starts loving Kanji and is the birth to their love stories amidst the tensions of village modernization. The theme of the movie actually revolves around the lives of the villagers and how they are badly affected.
