Bollywood movie, Naam, directed by Mahesh Bhatt was released on 30 August 1986. The movie starred Sanjay Dutt, Kumar Gaurav and Amrita Singh in lead roles while Poonam Dhillon, Paresh Rawal and Ashutosh Gowariker also played important roles in the film. The music of the film was given by famous music director, Laxmikant Pyarelal and the songs were sung by Mohammed Aziz, Lata Mangeshkar, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Pankaj Udhas and Manhar Udhas. The movie did well at the box office and the songs of the film also topped the msuic charts of that year.

The movie starts with a middle class family comprises of Janki Kapoor ( Nutan ) and her two sons, Ravi Kapoor ( Kumar Gaurav ) and Vicky Kapoor ( Sanjay Dutt ). Ravi is a sincere guy while Vicky is just the opposite of Ravi in nature. Vicky always get into fights with people for no reason. However, he respects his elder brother a lot from his heart. Vicky gets fascinated to the job available overseas Dubai. He ask his mother to give him permission to leave to Dubai. Ravi helps him in convinicing mother, Janki.

Ravi also arranges for his visa and the money to go to Dubai. Vicky leaves for Dubai. But after arriving there he relaises that the conditions are not easy for him to survive there. Soon he is asked for working for an international smuggler Rana ( Paresh Rawal ) if he wants to be in Dubai. Left no choice, Vicky agress to do so. On the otherhand, Ravi and his mother Janki also give up on him because of no letter or call from him. And one day they finds out that Vicky is dead leaving behind his pregnant girlfriend.
