Songs of Naiyya
The family drama movie, Naiyya was released in 1980 under the banner of Chanda Pictures. Prashant Nanda directed while Tarachand Barjatya produced the movie. The lead cast of the movie included Baldev Khosa, Prashant Nanda and Zarina Wahab while Leela Mishra and Dinesh Hingoo played the supporting roles. K.J. Yesudas and Hemlata sang the songs while Ravindra Jain gave the music for the movies.
Sonu ( Prashant Nanda ) resides with his aged mother ( Leela Mishra ) in a small village, Lakhipur along the banks of the holy river Ganga. One day, she saves a girl named, Geeta ( Zarina Wahab ) from drowning and shelters her at his place. Soon, she discovers that she belongs to an affluent family. When she recovers from her injuries, Sonu takes her home. Unexpectedly, she is longer invited by her paternal uncle and his wife, Ramkali ( Shubha Khote ).
He is left with no alternative except for taking her home again. Sonu’s mother wishes Sonu to wed Geeta. However, before witnessing her desire come true, she passes away. The villagers wished Geeta to depart from their vicinity. Some days later, Geeta finds out that Sonu is looking for a suitable groom for Geeta. He succeeds in finding a doctor as a groom for Geeta. Unexpectedly, the doctor did not show up on the wedding ceremony. Agitated Sonu commences to reason out for doctor’s betrayal and probably boycotts him in front of everyone.
