Songs of Namak Haraam


Bollywood musical romantic drama, Namak Haraam, directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee and written by Biresh Chatterjee was released on November 19, 1973. The movie starred Rajesh Khanna, Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha in lead roles while Simi Grewal, A. K. hangal, Om Shivpuri, Lalita Kumari, Jayshree T., Asrani, Neelam and Manmohan also played significant characters in the film. The hit evergreen music of the movie was composed by the well knwon veteran music director Rahul Dev Burman while the songs were sung by Kishore Kumar, Usha Mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsle etc.

Somnath ( Rajesh Khanna ) is living a poor lifestyle alongwith his mother and a younger sister in a slum. He is a close friend of Vikram aka Vicky ( Amitabh Bachchan ), who belongs to a wealthy family. Vicky is forced to step in the family business when his father has a severe heart attack and is advised to take complete bed rest. But problem arises when Vicky has a confrontation with union leader, Bipinlala Pandey ( A. K. Hangal ). As a result of this confrontation, all the workers of the factory goes on a strike. Vicky is asked to apologize to Bipinlal by his father. Vicky does so and everything once again returns to normal.

But Vicky seeks revenge from Bipinlal for the humiliation he had faced because of him. Somnath learns about this and decides to help Vicky. They both plans to teach a lesson to Bipinlal. Vicky then gives a job to Somnath in the same factory. Somnath becomes friendly with all thew workers specially with Bipinlal. Soon Somu becomes the union leader of the workers after replacing Bipinlal. Somnath then falls in love with a beautiful girl named Shyamam ( Rekha ).
