Bollywood family action drama, Namak, directed by Kawal Sharma and written by Ram Govind was released in the year 1996. The movie starred Sanjay Dutt and Farha Naaz in lead roles while Prem Chopra, Raza Murad, Shakti Kapoor, Amita nangia, Paintal, Jagdeep, Sahila Chadda, Dinesh Hingoo and Shammi Kapoor were also seen playing important roles in the film. The melodious music of the movie was directed by the hit music director Anu Malik while the songs were crooned by Abhijeet, Nitin Mukesh, Shabbir Kumar and Sadhana Sargam.

The movie starts with a guy named Gopal ( Sanjay Dutt ), who works as a servant in the Sharma family. Sharma family is headed by Lala Kedarnath ( Shammi Kapoor ) and the other family members are Kedarnath’s wife, Shanti, two daughter, Asha ( Sahila Chadda )and Sunita ( Amita Nangia ) and a son named Prabhat ( Shakti Kapoor ). While playing Prabhat accidently shoots Gopal. Assuming that Gopal is dead, Prabhat runs away from there and since then there is no news of Prabhat. Years later, Gopal is now a grown up guy and is considered as the family members by Lala Kedarnath.

Asha is now married to Suresh and Sunita is also married to a guy named Balwinder. Gopal rescues Kedarnath when Shanti’s brother tries to kill him but in the process, he himself get injured. When Gopal returns from hospital, he get shocked to learn that Kedarnath is dead. Shanti is about to make Goapl the next heir of the Sharma’s property. It is then Prabhat ( Shakti Kapoor ) returns and claims for Sharma property. But soon Gopal reveals that the guy is not Prabhat actually.
