Bollywood actress, Namrata Shirodkar, was born on January 22, 1972 in Mumbai, India. She belongs to a typical Marathi family. Her sister, Shilpa Shirodkar, is also a former bollywood actress. She started her career as a model. She was crowned Miss India in year 1993. She then went on to represent India in the Miss Universe pageant also. She made her debut with a short role in bollywood movie Jab Pyaar Kisi Se Hota Hai. The movie starred Salman Khan and Twinkle Khanna in lead roles though.

She then made her debut as a lead actress in Mere Do Anmol Ratan but unfortunately the movie failed to do well at the box office. She then appeared in a romantic movie titled Hero Hindustani opposite Arshad Warsi. Her first hit movie came in the form of Ajay Devgan and Saif Ali Khan starrer Kacche Dhaage. Then came the milestone movie of her career, Sanjay Dutt starrer Vaastav for which she won several acclaims.

She was next seen in a short role in Anil Kapoor starrer Pukar. She also appeared in an item number alongwith Akshay Kumar in comic caper Hera Pheri. She also recieved good response for her performance in Astitva. She then gave back to back flop movies such as Aaghaz, Tera mera Saath rahe, Hathyar, Maseeha etc. She got notified by people in the role of Aishwarya Rai’s sister in Bride & Prejudice.
