Sanjeev Kumar and Jaya Bhaduri starrer comedy drama flick, Nauker, was released on December 7, 1979. The movie was directed by Ismail Menon. The other starcast of the movie includes Yogeeta Bali, Mehmood, Lalita pawar, Shatrughan Sinha, Madhu malini, Manmohan Krishna and Jalal Agha in significant characters. The evergreen melodious music of the movie was directed by the eveteran music director Rahul dev Burman while the songs were rendered by Mohammed rafi, Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar etc.

Widowed Amar ( Sanjeev Kumar ) is living a poor lifestyle alongwith his daughter and a servant named Dayal ( Mehmood ). His relatives wants him to get married again so that his daughter can get the love of a mother. But Amar refuse to marry again as he is afraid of the treatment his daughter will get from a step mother. Finally he agrees to get married again. His relatives selects two sisters, Shobha and Sheela for him. Now he has to choose from the two. Amar decides to take a test of the sisters. He goes as Dayal and Dayal goes as Amar to their house.

Amar and Dayal arrives in ther house and are heartedly welcomed by the family members. Dayal is asked to stay in the servant room as he is just a mere servant. Dayal meets with the maid servant of the house, Geeta ( Jaya Bhaduri ). After sepnding some time with Geeta, Dayal ( who is actually Amar ) falls in love with her. He proposes to Geeta for marriage without revealing his real identity.
