Bollywood movie, Nikaah, directed by B.R. Chopra was released in the year 1982. The movie starred Raj Babbar, Salma Agha and Deepak Parashar in lead roles while Gufi Paintal and Iftekhar also played significant characters in the film. The movie was distributed under the banner of B.R. Films. The superhit music of the film was givne by Ravi and the songs were sung by Mahendra Kapoor, Ghulam Ali, Salma Agha, Hasan Kamal and Asha Bhonsle. The movie did well at the box offic e and became one of the big hit of that year.

The movie starts with Wasim Ahmed ( Deepak Parashar ), who is a foriegn returned business tycoon. He meets with gorgeous Nilofer ( Salma Agha ) and falls in love with her. Nilofer too starts developing feeling for him. She simply accepts the marraige proposal of Wasim. They both get married to each other. After some very good initial days, Nilofer finds that Wasim is getting more and more busy in his business. She get disappointed by the fact that Wasim is no more interested in her.

Wasim also forget about their first wedding anniversary which disappoints Nilofer more. She tries to speak up that thing to Wasim but he starts quarreling with her. In the end, furious Wasim divorces her. Nilofer leaves hi shouse and starts living in a girls hostel. There she meets Afaque Haider Siddiqui ( Raj Babbar ), a newspaper editor. Soon they get married to each other. But the problem arises when Nilofer’s ex-husband Wasim, returns to her pleading to forgive him for his deed.
