The movie No Smoking was released on October 26, 2007 under the banners of Big Screen Entertainer and Vishal Bhardwaj Pictures Pvt Ltd. The social movie was directed by Anurag Kashyap and produced by Vishal Bharadwaj and Kumar Mangat. The lead roles of the film were played by John Abraham, Ayesha Takia and Ranvir Shorey while roles of Joy Fernandes, Paresh Rawal and Bipasha Basu were also noticeable. The music was given by Vishal Bharadwaj and the songs were sung by Adnan Sami, Sukhwinder Singh, Daler Mehndi, Rekha Bharadwaj and Vishal Bharadwaj.

The movie was earlier thought to be titled as Cigarette smoking is injurious to health due to the subject it is based upon. The efforts from the director are decent and he wants to make people aware of the worst effects of Smoking. The movie is quite puzzled and it’s very difficult for the audience to get the feel of it. The movie could have been better if it had entertained the audience along with making them aware of the social issue. The film is about a obstinate guy K ( John Abraham ) who loves smoking very much and was very difficult for him to quit it.

K did exactly what he wished and was unmoved by the surrounding circumstances. Since he didn’t want to quit his smoking he soon became a chain smoker. His first priority was his love for smoking and felt that even his wife Anjali ( Ayesha Takia ) and his close friend Abbas Tyrewala ( Ranvir Shorey ) can not force him to quit it. Anjali took him to Shri prakash Guru ghantal baba bangali ( Paresh Rawal ) who can make people quit smoking if they obey his set of rules. But K was in no mood to quit it and thus paid a price of losing his life.
