Bollywood action thriller, Paap Ka Ant, directed by Vijay Reddy was released on December 8, 1989. The movie starred Govinda and Madhuri Dixit in lead roles while Rajesh Khanna, Vikas Anand, Jagdish Raj, Asrani, Anupam Kher, Birbal, Mac Mohan, Ranjeet, lalita Kumari, Hema malini and Tej Sapru also played important roles in the film. The hit melodious music of the movie was directed by the well known music director Bappi Lahiri while the songs were crooned by Mohammed Aziz, Kavita Krishnamurthy etc.

Jyoti ( Hema Malini ) is an advocate by profession and is in love with Deputy Commissioner Of Police, Khanna ( Rajesh Khanna ). They both are planning to get maried soon but their life gets upturned when Khanna starts working on the case of a triple homicide. Khanna reveals that there are two guys behind this homicide, Vikram and Shakaal ( Ranjeet ). Khanna arrests both the guys and put them behind bars. But just before the hearing, Khanna is killed by someone. Vikram and Shakaal are proved innocent in the court.

Jyoti gets enraged with this and decides to do justice to Vikram and Shakaal on her own. Soon she becomes a headache for the criminals and as aresult of this, she and her sister, Nisha ( Madhuri Dixit ) are abdcuted by them. Nisha is gangraped by Shakaal and his goons. Nisha lost her mental balance after this incident. Now Jyoti must decide whether she still wants to fight against Shakaal and Vikram or not?
