Paap was an action thriller released on January 30, 2004 under the banners of Fish Eye Network Pvt Ltd and Shreya Creations. The movie was directed by Pooja Bhatt and produced by Sujit Kumar Singh. The significant roles were played by John Abraham, Gulshan Grover, Udita Goswami and Mohan Agashe while the supporting roles were played by Puneet and Anahita Uberoi. Music of the film was directed by Anu Malik and the songs were sung by Anuradha Paudwal, Farrukh Fateh Ali Khan, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Ali Azmat.

The movie Paap was not only special to the actress-director Pooja Bhatt for whom it was her first film as the director but was also important to the lead actress Udita Goswami who made her debut with this film. The film was also the first Bollywood movie to make its premiere at the Kara Film Festival held in Karachi, Pakistan on December 20, 2003. The religious head of a monastery- the Rimpoche in Spiti, Himachal Pradesh, gets a vision that his master has been reincarnated as a six year old boy in New Delhi.

Kaya ( Udita Goswami ) was required to bring back that boy Llahmo ( Madan Bhiku ) to the monastery. Kaya is a very disciplined girl brought up by her strict father Father ( Dr. Mohan Agashe ). The twist in the story comes when Llahmo gets involved in a case of murder of a police offier and is a witness to the case. The case is inspected by the honest officer Shiven ( John Abraham ). Kaya tells him about the whole story and also finds herself attracted towards him. There remain no options with them but to take the boy back to his safe surroundings.
